What is ZINGO & How Much Does it Cost?
Zingo Drivers

What is ZINGO?

It's a designated driving service that drives you home in your car! The folding motorized scooter allows ZINGO to arrive at the customers location, then stow the motorized scooter in the customers trunk, and once the customer is home safe with their car the ZINGO driver heads to the next customer. For long distances, ZINGO uses a chase car to pick up the driver at your final destination. There is no limit on distance.

ZINGO will also be at many local drinking establishments (depending on event schedules and day of the week!) So, you can grab a Zingo designated driver on your way out of the bar!

$10.00 pick up, first 2 miles free,
$3.00 per mile after.

( Tips are always appreciated! )

Frequently Asked Questions [FAQs]

How far can you go?

  • A common misconception with Zingo is that we can only drive you as far as our guys can ride back on the motorized scooter. On longer rides, we utilize an interceptor vehicle and pick up our driver on longer rides. We have no limit on where we will take you. Need to go to California? Zingo can drive you there.

Are the drivers safe riding those motorized scooters?

  • Another common misconception. Zingo has a stellar safety record, both with our customer's cars and riding the motorized scooters. Riding a scooter at night is actually much safer than riding one during the day, mainly due to the significant drop in traffic volume during our service hours. We also train our drivers to be extremely careful and smart. We use tactics like pulling on the sidewalk to let faster drivers go by, and our drivers stay on back streets whenever possible. With that said, our drivers understand the inherent risk of riding a motorized scooter going in, but assume that risk so they can get YOU home safe. They appreciate your gratuities for assuming that risk.

How long does it take for my Zingo driver to arrive?

  • Zingo prides itself on timeliness. Usually, we can have someone there in 10-15 minutes. Because of demand during peak hours, we recommend you call 20-30 minutes before you want your driver to arrive.

Do you take reservations?

  • During the daytime Zingo caters to the medical field. We are able to drive patients home after surgery when they can't drive themselves, or when relatives are too busy. We take reservations for these services, as well as other planned events such as Birthday or Bachelor/Bachelorette parties.

Are you insured to drive my car?

  • We are fully insured. Our clients do assume the primary insurance risk through their occassional driver clauses with their insurance. Every client must sign a Customer Service Contract before service.

Can I hire a Zingo driver hourly?

  • Sure. Call for pricing. It's like having your own personal chaffeur.

Are you hiring?

  • Yes, contact us at zingotriangle@gmail.com

Can you drive my car home without me in it?

  • Yes. In fact, we provide this service to our regulars quite often. Our drivers can perform special tasks for you as well, such as feeding your pets if you are not going to make it home. Really!

Will the scooter leak gas in my car?

  • No. The Di Blasi is specially designed with a fuel cut off system. We also take the extra precaution of placing it a heavy duty leak proof bag. We take special care to keep your car in the same condition it was when we arrived.

Can I hire Zingo for special events? Weddings? Corporate events?

  • Yes. Call for pricing.

Are you looking for investors?

  • Yes. Please contact us at info@zingoraleigh.com

ZINGO Raleigh Press Releases

Zingo Raleigh, Sober Saviors

By Matt Ehlers; Staff Writer

Zingo Raleigh, a fully insured designated driving service available in nearly two dozen markets nationwide. We have found the number one reason people drink and drive is they don't want to leave their cars behind. Zingo personnel are on-hand to drive patrons home, in their own cars, when they may have had too much to drink- eliminating all of the consequences of drinking and driving or the need to return the next day for their vehicle.. Get Zingo'd home safely with your car....

Raleigh, NC (News and Observer) February 27, 2009 -- It doesn't take a ton of business savvy for Joe Stallworth to get people to notice his new endeavor. All he has to do is park it on a busy sidewalk. Within minutes, there are questions, and Stallworth steps forward with cards promoting Zingo, his scooter-ized designated driving service.

Zingo takes the idea of the post-party cab ride home a step further. When a customer calls Zingo, a driver on a tiny motor scooter is dispatched to the scene. The minibike, which weighs close to 70 pounds, is then folded, placed in a zippered bag and put inside the trunk of the customer's vehicle. The Zingo driver takes the customer home, then rides away on the scooter. The customer doesn't have to fetch his car in the morning, an advantage over the standard cab ride home.

Zingo Triangle began operating over the summer. Stallworth and fellow investors Tyler Stevens and Elliott Pierce now have nine minibikes on the streets in Raleigh and Chapel Hill. They hope to expand to Durham. Based in Atlanta, Zingo franchises have been popping up across the nation. Zingo President P.X. Head said he was enamored with the business as soon as he came across it in spring 2006. "It's hard for anyone to see it and not have the light bulbs go off," said Head, who quickly invested. The idea has caught on -- the Triangle even has a Zingo competitor, Zevo Express.

Zingo drivers ride Di Blasi folding motorbikes. Di Blasi is an Italian-made scooter. The scooters hold about three-quarters of a gallon of gas and can drive 60 to 70 miles on a tank. "The bike sells the whole thing," Head said. "It's the greatest marketing hook factor of all time."

Ken Powers of Raleigh has taken Zingo home a few times. He discovered the service after receiving a business card. Although the ride costs more than a taxi, it's worth it, he said. When Powers rides from downtown to his home near Crabtree Valley Mall, the charge is about $25. "It's a lot cheaper than a DUI," said Powers, 26. A taxi costs about $20, and then he has to return to get his car.

Generally speaking, Zingo charges a $10 pickup fee plus $3 a mile. Discounts are available for students, military and law enforcement personnel. Zingo drivers have insurance, although customers assume the primary insurance risk.

When driving scooters late at night, Zingo drivers do their best to take back roads to stay out of traffic. They also wear bright clothing to stay visible. It's safer to drive the scooter at night than in the day, Stallworth said. "There's no one on the road at 3 o'clock in the morning." No one, he hopes, who should have called Zingo.
